Army PFC Alexander was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Alexander, Sr. of Las Vegas, New Mexico. He was born on September 19, 1945 and killed in action in the Republic of Vietnam on October 4, 1966.
George sustained injuries and burns over 70 per cent of his body when the armored personnel carrier, in which he and five others were riding near Saigon, was hit by a land mine. He was transferred to a military hospital at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, where he died a week later.
